On February 27th, the promotion event for the 137th Canton Fair was successfully held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event was attended and addressed by Xue Wei, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia; Kenenisa Lemi, Secretary-General of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations; as well as representatives from exhibitors and long-standing buyers of the Canton Fair. Approximately 100 representatives from local enterprises and media were present at the event.
Xu Jiansheng, Operations Director of China Foreign Trade Centre Group Co., Ltd., stated that China is Ethiopia’s largest trading partner. For a long time, Ethiopian buyers have actively participated in the Canton Fair, with attendance figures ranking among the top in African countries. The upcoming 137th Canton Fair will welcome global merchants with higher quality exhibits, more trade promotion activities, an enhanced service experience, and a more efficient participation assistant—the Canton Fair APP. Ethiopian enterprises are warmly invited to attend and exhibit at the Canton fair.
During their stay in Addis Ababa, the working group also met with the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Integration and the Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations. They conducted a field study at the Huajian Light Industrial Park and held a symposium with representatives from Chinese enterprises. Discussions were held on the local market situation, import and export trade needs, and the facilitation of participation in exhibitions. Additionally, a partnership agreement was signed with the Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations.
